What's reported to be the first ever sale and financing of a motor vehicle over the internet in Australia has been completed using a Synergetic Services loan origination system 'Synergy.'
The successful trial raises the question of what general retailers can do to offer finance on big ticket items for customers purchasing online rather than going to traditional bricks and mortar stores.
The 'Synergy' system empowers customers to obtain pre-approval for finance in a single internet session, without the need to physically visit a lender and with 24-seven access.
A spokesman for Synergetic says the loan origination system is seeking to "revolutionise the lending market", by implementing a more efficient, user-friendly application process that provides customers with real time application responses over the internet.
Hunter Holden has recently implemented a trial version of the Synergy loan system. In June, David Pollock, of Sydney, visited the Hunter Holden website, identified the vehicle he wanted to purchase, entered his details and financing requirements, and was fully approved to purchase the vehicle. Three days later, Pollock was able to pick up his vehicle from the showroom.
Adam Kaplan, CEO of Hunter Holden said, 15 per cent of the dealer's motor vehicles are sold across Australia, without the customer ever visiting its showrooms.
"This trend is growing. Putting the consumer in control of the purchase and enabling them to finance the vehicle at the same time is a huge step forward and our customers love it."
Andrew Meakin, Synergetic Services chairman, said the company was hoping to roll the technology out internationally.
