The second stage of MidCity in Sydney's Pitt St Mall has opened. The centre is the first to reopen following an extensive redevelopment.
Stage one opened in March, with a 50m street frontage of glass and steel, while stage two provides a thoroughfare to George St.
Rhon Levin, CEO of retail at Lend Lease, who manage the centre said stage two's opening would add more than 25 new retail stores.
"MidCity is squarely positioned as a style destination, having successfully secured some of the best high street brand names in the Australian market today,” Levin said.
Stores including General Pants, Witchery and Rebel Sport, present their flagship store concepts as part of MidCity retail mix.
Other retailers housed in the new centre are Forever New, G-Star RAW and Surf Dive ‘n Ski, Hype DC, Industry, Peter Alexander, Wittner and Pink Zebra.
In addition to the new 9000sqm CBD retail centre, MidCity incorporates a Five Green Star design rated commercial office tower, which rises directly above the retail podium of 420 George St.

Designed by Bates Smart, MidCity features of stone and glass facades. The Pitt St Mall entry is five stories high and placed between two stone blades, allowing a direct visual connection to all retail levels.
“This is significant and we’re truly proud of what MidCity has been transformed into,” said Ray Sproats, CEO of part owner Fortius Funds Management.
“The entire development team deserve to be commended on this project. The outcome is a new benchmark for retail in Sydney’s CBD.”
