DVD rental and movie subscription company, Quickflix, has appointed Hannah Schwartz as chief marketing officer.
Based in Sydney, the new executive position has been created to drive subscriber and revenue growth in major national markets and to develop Quickflix into a premier online home entertainment consumer brand.
Quickflix executive chairman Stephen Langsford said Schwartz's experience includes roles in New York and with local category leading internet brands such as
RealEstate.com.au and
RSVP.com.au.
"Critically, Hannah brings more than 20 years’ leadership experience to Quickflix in developing customer acquisition strategies for emerging and rapidly growing industries,” Langsford said.
Schwartz’s resume includes helping launch Prodigy Online Services in the US, one of the first internet companies that pioneered online news, shopping and other services.
She has also held senior marketing positions at US based companies Yoyodyne (acquired by Yahoo!), global interactive agency Digitas and direct response agency Wunderman (clients Time-Life Books and AT&T).
Most recently, she was GM of Fairfax-owned
RSVP.com.au. From 2004 to 2007, she served as group consumer marketing manager of ASX-listed market leader REA Group (
RealEstate.com.au and international sites) where she quadrupled traffic to the website to four million unique visitors.
Commenting on her appointment Schwartz said: “I am delighted to be leading the marketing effort of a leading online entertainment brand in the making. The home entertainment industry is going through enormous change and demand for Quickflix is growing. I’m looking forward to applying my experience of working with other major internet brands to the next phase of Quickflix’s growth.”
The appointment of a CMO follows recent statements by the company that it is gearing up for growth and the appointments of Michael Snow as head of content in Sydney and technologist Dr Tim Parsons as head of product development and technology.
