Lake Haven Shopping Centre has taken out the Excellence in Community Service award category at the 2009 Wyong Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
The awards celebrate outstanding examples of business excellence and leadership in the Wyong region on the NSW Central Coast. Lake Haven was recognised for its ongoing support of local groups, events and activities, including its regular donations to community organisations
Through its Community Access Policy, Lake Haven partnered with 60 community groups and to provide more than $150,000 in direct or in-kind support for 260 community based activities in the last financial year.
Retail marketing manager, Katrina Cooke, said the centre was extremely honoured to be recognised.
"Our commitment to the community has a strong heritage, as the shopping centre has consistently provided support to the local community since it opened in 1986.
"Although we see all of our supported activities as being important, we are particularly proud of our ongoing partnership with the Hunter Breast Screening mobile unit. As a result of our support, the unit screened over 2900 local women during the last 12 months in the fight against breast cancer.”
The shopping centre also supported St Vinnies in the annual Winter Woolies initiative, with two tonne of much needed blankets and warm clothing donated by the centre’s customers and retailers.
