Booktopia will next month launch Australia's first book vending machines.
Book vending machines are successful in the UK and allow consumers to read about the books, hear interviews with authors and see new releases via an LCD screen.
Booktopia will rollout 200 machines in the next 12 months with the first locations to include shopping centres, hospitals and hotels.
The machines will be fully operated and serviced by Booktopia. Books will range in size and price and will include current bestsellers and books at discounted prices.
Booktopia CEO, Tony Nash said the launch of the vending machines was a huge and exciting step for book retailing in Australia
"It gives people even greater access to books 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We are so excited about this venture and we know it will be a success” said Nash.
Robyn Gipters, Australasian Distributor for Novel Idea Vending said: “We are so thrilled to be partnering with a company that is so innovative. Booktopia have already experienced tremendous success with their online business and we know this will be a winning addition to their company," she said.
