Design agency, e2, has taken out the award for Best Retail Design in Asia Pacific for OPSM Eye Hub, at the Asia Pacific Property Awards.

e2 was the highest scoring winner in the retail category and will represent Asia Pacific at the International Property Awards in London in December. e2 will compete against winners from Europe, Africa, the Americas and Arabia, for the coveted title of World’s Best in Retail Design.

The OPSM Eye Hub is located in Melbourne and is the only retail store of its kind in the world. Covering 1500sqm, the split-level design incorporates interactive technology and immersive experiential design. The store creates a unique customer journey, featuring state of the art medical technology, interactive product testing, 41 touch screens, wind and glare simulators, a kids education zone and seven themed optometry rooms.

Alex Ritchie, creative director at e2 said: “It's tremendous to work with OPSM as a brand that understands retail need not deteriorate to discounts and bargains.

"Consumers will buy on value, which in this case is created by giving consumers a unique experience when deciding on their eye ware. I'm delighted that our approach to creating memories for consumers has been recognised,” said Ritchie.

Chris Beer, CEO of Luxottica (owner of OPSM) APAC and China said: “When you take a truly exceptional concept like OPSM eye hub - with the focus of providing an equally unique and engaging customer experience, the design of the store is paramount. e2 understood what we wanted to achieve – an instore journey that touched each of the five senses.

"Through this collaboration, we have delivered an unparalleled customer experience for the optometry sector,” said Beer.
The Asia Pacific Property Awards are part of the International Property Awards, established 17 years ago, and known to be the world’s most prestigious property competition. A record number of 21 different countries took part in the Asia Pacific Awards this year.

The award selection is carried out through a meticulous process involving a judging panel of over 50 experts chaired by Lord Bates of Langbaurgh and covering every aspect of the property business such as development, architecture, interior design and agency.
