Talking about innovation, why is it the big retailers with shopping centre stores always over shadow the brilliant and most innovative concepts coming out of Australia?? Ideas like FREE shopping came out of Aus (Sample Lab now Sample Central) is a good case in point. They seem to have huge take up in other markets around the world...but where are they in Australia? It's time for retailers in Australia to understand there are new models and new ideas coming...they can continue to do what they do, ignore the true consumer need and hope that shoppers continue to walk through their door and spend their hard earned cash, because of course they have the blind belief that their agency will come up with the next great campaign. KEKDAOGR is completely correct ZERO innovation in these awards.

Without seeing the finacial statements and applications, it is impossible to second guess the judging process or conclusion. To be the Top Retailer, I would expect excellence in several core areas - financial reults, customer service, selection and merchandising, employee satisfaction etc. As for innovation, I would expect to see something new - a unique concept addressing an unmet market niche, executed well.

Not surprising that every retailer who won has a physical presence in shopping malls, given that AMP Capital Shopping Centres is the sponsor of this event. There is absolutely nothing innovative about any of the winners. Appliances Online or Kogan should have won them all. Sounds like these awards are a bit of a joke.
