Australia’s largest independent shopping comparison service Getprice has acquired the website and business of rival Shopferret.
The company said the combination of the Getprice and Shopferret websites would boost visits to the sites to at least 600,000 in June, placing Getprice amongst the top five retail sites in Australia alongside major players such as ninemsn and Yahoo! 7, according to figures from Nielsen Netratings.
Shopping comparison websites such as Getprice allow consumers to compare products and prices online, giving them the option to also buy online from leading retailers.
Getprice MD, Chris Hitchen, said the Shopferret acquisition was a good fit with the Getprice brand. “The purchase will broaden the reach and the demographics of our user base,” he said.
Getprice displays up-to-date product and pricing information from Australian retailers, as well as useful buying guides, product reviews and user opinions.
